Community Update: Bradley Creek Wildfire (K41351)

The Bradley Creek Wildfire (K41351) remains an active incident, and emergency crews continue working throughout the affected area. While progress continues, all Evacuation Orders remain in effect, Westside Road remains closed, and a Do Not Consume Water Advisory has been issued for affected community water systems.

Response and recovery efforts are ongoing, but significant work remains before residents can safely return home.

All Evacuation Orders remain in effect (Please see Maps below)

Evacuation Order 1: All residents north of Bonneau Road and south of Highway 97, including residents across the lake along Head of the Lake Road, Hawhola Road, and all properties to the OKIB IR 1 boundary.

Evacuation Order 2: All OKIB IR 1 properties south of Six Mile Creek to Westshore Estates.

Evacuation Order 3: All remaining OKIB IR 1 properties, resulting in all of Okanagan Indian Band IR 1 now being under an Evacuation Order.

Westside Road Remains Closed

Westside Road remains closed and is not safe for public travel. Active fire, damaged power poles, hazardous trees, and ongoing emergency operations continue to pose significant risks throughout the area.

Firefighters, BC Hydro crews, heavy equipment operators, and other emergency personnel continue to work along the corridor. Please do not attempt to enter the evacuation area or bypass road closures. Keeping roads clear is essential to allow emergency crews to safely carry out suppression, utility restoration, and hazard mitigation work.

Do Not Consume Water Advisory

A Do Not Consume Water Advisory is in effect for the following community water systems:

  • Okanagan Indian Band Systems Six Mile / Bradley Creek / Irish Creek / Head of the Lake Community Water System (DWS #429)
  • 59 Antoine Road Community Water System (DWS #2391)

Under a Do Not Consume Water Advisory, water must not be consumed for drinking, preparing food or beverages, making infant formula, brushing teeth, making ice, or any other activity where it may be ingested. Bottled water or another approved potable water source should be used until further notice. (Please see attached notice).

Response and Recovery

Emergency response and recovery efforts continue around the clock.

While much of the work taking place is not always visible, crews continue to suppress the wildfire, extinguish hotspots, assess damaged infrastructure, restore essential services where possible, and plan for the safe return of residents when conditions allow.

Chief and Council, the Emergency Operations Centre, and OKIB staff continue working with BC Wildfire Service, RCMP, BC Hydro, Interior Health, Emergency Support Services, and other partner agencies to coordinate the response and prepare for the next phase of recovery.

We understand Members continue to have questions about returning home, accessing properties, essential services, and what comes next.

Those questions remain our priority, and we will continue providing updates as information becomes available through the Okanagan Indian Band’s official communication channels.
