Community Update: Access to Evacuation Order Area

We understand many people want to return to their homes or access their properties. We also understand that some residents have urgent circumstances that may require entry into the Evacuation Order Area.

At this time, however, the Bradley Creek Wildfire remains an active emergency. Current weather conditions, including hot temperatures and the potential for changing fire behaviour, continue to create an uncertain and evolving situation. Emergency crews remain actively working throughout the area, and conditions can change quickly.

The Evacuation Order remains in place to protect public safety and allow firefighters, utility crews, and emergency personnel to continue suppression efforts, damage assessments, and infrastructure restoration safely.

For those reasons, permits to enter the Evacuation Order Area will only be considered in emergency situations.

Please note:

• Permits are only being issued for emergency situations.
• All permits are issued solely at the discretion of the Okanagan Indian Band Emergency Operations Centre (EOC).
• If you believe your situation is an emergency, you must attend the OKIB EOC office in person at 2907 – 32nd Street, Vernon, to request a permit.

Every request will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, taking into consideration current fire conditions, operational requirements, and public safety. We know this is not the news many people are hoping for. Our goal remains the safe return of our community as soon as conditions allow. Until then, we appreciate your continued patience and cooperation as emergency crews work to bring this incident under control and prepare the area for safe re-entry.
