Community Update: Bradley Creek Wildfire Response

,

Update as of 1130, August 14th, 2026

Way’ everyone,

We are beginning to field many calls from residents in the surrounding areas adjacent to OKIB.

Please be advised that Westside Road through OKIB is not open to non-emergency traffic at this time.

While the Central Okanagan Regional District (CORD) has lifted orders to Westshore, Killiney, Fintry and other residents along the southern portion of Westside Road, access remains closed at Pinecrest Road, at the along the Southern boundary of Okanagan Indian Band (OKIB) Indian Reserve 1. At this time the remaining Evacuation Order for OKIB IR 1 remains in place.

Residents accessing CORD’s Evacuation Order Rescind area will have to use the south access of Westside Road.

BC Hydro is completing final repair work to infrastructure along Westside Road currently. In addition, Danger tree removal mitigation within the road corridor is taking place. This work has been ongoing and is expected to be completed soon.

OKIB will be re-assessing Evacuation Orders and Alerts will be occurring in the coming days, and we ask residents for patience while the final work allowing for re-entry is completed.

Further updates will be shared through the Okanagan Indian Band’s official communication channels as more information becomes available.
