Community Update: Garbage Collection Service Resuming to South rescinded area.
Update as of 5:00pm August 15th, 2026
Way’ Members,
Please be advised that Garbage Collection for the residents who have returned to their homes in the Six Mile and White Man’s areas will be resuming. Daily garbage collection services are being scheduled for the next 5 days to allow returning residents to dispose of food and cleaning waste safely during this initial time back to your home.
Regular garbage service has now resumed to Head of the Lake Hall, Round Lake and Irish Creek areas.
After 5 days, of daily pick up, regular garbage schedule will resume for Komasket, Six mile, and Whitemans as well.
Fridges and Freezers
Power was restored August 7th to Six Mile and has been consistent since. We are recommending that members take steps to clean their fridges and freezers. We acknowledge that in some instances a new fridge may be required. Re-entry kits for residents with info on fridge cleaning are being distributed tonight.
Red Cross cleaning kits will be available for pick up tomorrow, August 16th beginning at 9 am the TSD office (12 Bonneau Rd). Information on fridge removal will be provided when it becomes available.
As a reminder to residents, please do not leave any garbage out overnight, wildfire impacts have pushed bears into human habituated areas as they search for food and water. Garbage and food waste can be a bear attractant.
