The First Nations Leadership Council (FNLC) invites First Nations youth to take part in the Uplifting Youth Climate Leaders Project, a youth-centered initiative bringing together young people engaged in climate action, advocacy, and community leadership.
This project creates space for youth to connect with one another, learn from Elders and Knowledge Holders, share experiences, and strengthen their leadership in climate justice work through virtual learning sessions and an in-person gathering.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for First Nations youth who:
· Are interested in climate action, climate justice, land stewardship, or environmental leadership
· Are involved in, or curious about, climate-related work in their community, school, or organization
· Want to learn from other youth, Elders, and mentors
· Are open to sharing experiences and learning in a respectful, supportive space
You do not need formal training or professional experience to participate.
Commitment Expectations:
· Join 3 virtual prep sessions in March–April (2 hours each)
· Attend a full-day, in-person Youth Climate Gathering, March 29th, 2026 (travel, accommodation and meals provided)
· Optional: Join the First Nations Summit Climate Gathering, March 30–31, 2026 (travel, accommodation and meals provided)
· Participate in discussions in ways that feel comfortable and meaningful to you.
Participants will receive an honorarium for:
· Full-day Youth Climate Gathering: $100 per day
· Virtual preparatory sessions: $30 per two-hour session
· Active participation at First Nations Summit gathering: $100 per day
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
· Be First Nations youth (age 18–30)
· Live in or be from a BC First Nation/community
· Be able to participate in 3 virtual sessions and the in-person gathering
