Community Update: Fall Clean Up Days for Members Living on IR 1

OKIB Public Works and Housing will be holding Fall Clean Up Days for OKIB Members living on IR 1 in October.

The clean-up will take place over two collection periods based on where residents live:

• Zone A: October 8–9, 2026
  North of Old Pro Hardware, including Irish Creek, Head of the Lake, Round Lake and Salmon River.
• Zone B: October 22–23, 2026
  South of Old Pro Hardware, including Bradley Creek, Six Mile, Nashwito (Siwash) Creek and Whiteman’s Creek.

These clean-up days are for regular household garbage and household items only. They are not for fire-damaged materials, demolition debris or other waste resulting from the Bradley Creek Wildfire.

For the safety of OKIB staff and contractors, collection will only take place at homes that were not affected by the wildfire. Crews will not collect materials from wildfire-affected properties, or fire damaged material during the Fall Clean Up Days, including regular household garbage or household items.

OKIB understands that families impacted by the wildfire need information about how fire-damaged materials and debris will be handled. That work is still underway, and separate information will be provided to affected residents once details are confirmed. Residents of wildfire-affected properties should not place materials at the curb as part of these Fall Clean Up Days.

What Can be Collected

Regular household items that can be collected include:

• bagged household garbage
• clothing
• furniture
• mattresses
• empty fridges and freezers, stoves
• metal items such as bike frames, bed frames and sinks

Items must be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. on your collection day and separated into household garbage, metals, furniture and mattresses. Items that are not properly sorted will not be collected. All household refuse must be bagged and tied. Please do not bring items to the Public Works Yard.

What Will not be Collected

The collection does not accept:

• automotive parts
• tires
• chemicals
• paint
• antifreeze
• oil containers
• aerosols or pressurized items
• burn-pile materials
• hazardous combustible items
• Styrofoam
• medical waste
• electronics

This service is for household items from OKIB Members on IR 1 only. It is not for commercial businesses, landlords, rental properties, renovation projects or previous rental properties.

Please remember: Fall Clean Up Days are for homes not affected by the Bradley Creek Wildfire. Collection will not take place at wildfire-affected properties, and wildfire-related debris is not part of this collection. More information about the removal and disposal of fire-damaged materials will be shared separately as that work progresses.
