Community Update: Child and Family Services Wildfire Recovery Payments

OKIB Child and Family Services is providing recovery payments to families with children under 19 living on IR 1 who were impacted by the Bradley Creek Wildfire. These payments are specific to Child and Family Services and are not a general wildfire recovery payment for all Members.

The payments are intended to help eligible families recover some of the additional costs associated with the evacuation and returning home, including the loss of food and other unexpected household expenses. Eligible families who have submitted direct deposit information to OKIB Finance should receive the payment directly into their bank account.

Who is eligible?

Families living on IR 1 with children under 19 who were impacted by the wildfire evacuation

Eligible OKIB families living on IR 1 with children under 19 who were impacted by the Bradley Creek Wildfire evacuation will receive a one-time payment of $2,000.

Families living on IR 1 with children under 19 who lost their home

Eligible OKIB families living on IR 1 with children under 19 who lost their home during the Bradley Creek Wildfire will receive the initial $2,000 payment, as well as two additional $2,000 recovery payments, for a total of $6,000.

Why are these payments limited to families with children?

OKIB recognizes that the Bradley Creek Wildfire affected Members and families across the community in different ways.

These particular payments are being distributed through Child and Family Services, with funding designated to support families with children under the age of 19. Eligibility for these payments is therefore based on the requirements and purpose of that funding.

This does not mean the impacts experienced by other Members are any less significant. OKIB continues to identify recovery supports for Members affected by the wildfire as resources and funding become available. Updates on supports and recovery measures will be provided to the community as information becomes available.
