Before you ignite, please take the time to check local regulations, assess the weather conditions and prepare your burn site properly. Best Practices

Spring burning can be a valuable tool for land management, but its crucial to prioritize safety and minimize environmental impact. Here are some best practices to follow:

Before You Burn:

· Check local regulations: Always verify with your local Fire Department, restrictions, or burn bans in effect.

· Monitor weather conditions: Pay close attention to wind speed and direction. Never burn on windy days, as this can lead to uncontrolled spread. Check for temperature and humidity levels, as dry conditions increase fire risk.

· Assess fuel and location: Ensure the material to be burnt is dry and free of contaminants. Choose a location away from structures, trees, and power lines.

· Create a fire break: Clear a perimeter around the burn area down to bare soil to prevent the fire from spreading.

· Have resources ready: Keep water, shovels, and other firefighting tools readily available.

During Burning:

· Start small: Begin with a small test fire to gauge conditions and ensure you can control it.
