Interior wide Drug Alert – Carfentanil
High risk of overdose and fatal overdose.
An increase in the detection of carfentanil in Down (opioid) samples in the Interior Health Region has been detected over the past month. These samples frequently contain benzodiazepines and tranquilizers, in addition to carfentanil. The combination of opioids with these substances amplify the effects of the drugs and significantly heightens the risk of overdose and death.
If you are going to use drugs, get them checked first. Find drug checking locations throughout the Interior at drugchecking.ca
No matter what or how you use (smoking, snorting, injecting) take steps to prevent overdose:
Be aware of increased risk if mixing with other drugs, including alcohol
Do not use alone – Use a buddy or OPS service Start with a small amount and space out your doses
