Community Update: Paid Employment Opportunities for OKIB Members During Wildfire Recovery

As recovery work continues following the Bradley Creek Wildfire, Phase 2 of the Danger Tree Removal Program is moving forward. This work will help make affected areas safer for residents and crews as debris removal, infrastructure repairs and rebuilding continue.

Rossco’s Forest Health is hiring OKIB Members for paid positions to support danger tree removal work. Opportunities are available for Members with forestry experience, as well as those interested in learning new skills.

Available opportunities

Rossco’s Forest Health is seeking:

• Forestry crew members and labourers
• Bucking crew members
• Safety lookouts
• Equipment operators with relevant tickets or experience

Paid training opportunities are also available toward chainsaw safety, danger tree awareness and first aid certifications.

No previous experience or tickets are required for entry-level forestry crew or labourer positions. Rossco’s Forest Health will provide training, personal protective equipment (PPE) and certified supervision. Positions are paid and covered by WorkSafeBC.
