Community Notice: Scheduled Blasting at Gravel Pit Tuesday, July 21

Kode Contracting has advised the OKIB Land Department that a scheduled blasting will be taking place at the gravel pit on Okanagan Indian Reserve No. 1 on Tuesday, July 21 as part of the approved quarry operations.

If you hear a loud bang or notice a plume of dust in the area, please do not be alarmed. This is a planned and controlled blast.

As part of the blasting procedures, precautionary fire prevention measures are in place, including a water truck and water tank on site. Local fire departments have also been notified in advance. The blast location is within the appropriate setback from the tree line, and there are no concerns regarding wildfire.

The area was surveyed prior to any development for archaeological or cultural potential or sites nothing was located.
