Community Update: Meal service and Emergency Support Services
Update as of 1:00pm, Aug. 21, 2026
As recovery from the Bradley Creek Wildfire continues, the need for some emergency services is beginning to change.
Due to a decrease in demand for prepared meals, served meal service at the Creekside Conference Centre has now ended.
On Monday, August 24, the Blue Bird team will provide lunch for Members and residents who have lost their homes. Transportation is available for those in Vernon who require assistance getting there. Please contact Rayne Goodwater with OKIB Transportation at 250-241-0234 to arrange transportation.
Emergency Support Services (ESS) will remain available at the Creekside Conference Centre from Friday, August 21 through Sunday, August 23 for those who continue to require assistance.
However, beginning next week, ESS will transition to the Schubert Centre in Vernon (3505 30th Avenue). The reception centre will be open Tuesday, August 25 and Wednesday, August 26 between 9:00am – 1:00pm.
OKIB has also set up a Community Resiliency Centre to help support and guide residents on the next steps towards recovery.
The OKIB Community Resiliency Center is open to OKIB members and non-member residents.
