DESCRIPTION:Interior regional Canoe/Kayak Development Camp \nJuly 14th – 16th 2:00pm – 8:00pm @Komasket Park (11505 Westside Road) \nOKIB Youth Activities is proud to collaborate with ISPARC and Canoe Kayak BC for the 2025 Interior Regional Canoe/Kayak Camp! With lessons in water safety and rescue\, paddling literacy and performance in both Canoe and Kayak\, as well as some fun on the water on Stand Up Paddleboards\, this three day camp will promote confidence and enjoyment on the water in a safe and fun environment. These two organizations hope to encourage more Indigenous Youth to fall in love with paddle sports and find some success in these boats with the hopes of having more competitive rowing teams at NAIG 2027! \nJoin us for three afternoon sessions July 14-16 at Komasket Park facilitated by the experts from Canoe Kayak BC for ages 11-17. Registration will be open exclusively to OKIB Youth for 24 hours before opening up to all other Indigenous Youth in the interior. There is no fee attached. DESCRIPTION:Calling our ntytyix Home\n\nDATE: June 20-26\, 2025\n\n\nTIME: 11:00 am\n\n\nLOCATION: Varies\n\n\nCONTACT: Mikkeila Ridsdale at mridsdale@syilx.org or 250-707-0095 ext. 127\n\n\n\nWe honour our ancestors with this annual ceremony in which we gather in five separate locations along the Columbia River to help pray for the return of the salmon\, two on the United States side and three on the Canadian side. This five-day event starts at Kettle Falls\, Washington which is organized by the Inchelium Language House Association and then takes place in Castlegar\, Revelstoke\, and at McIntyre Dam in BC and Enloe Dam in Washington on successive dates. These locations were chosen for their traditional location our people used to gather at to fish. Both these days start by gathering along the banks of the river to pray for the return of the fish. Everyone is welcome to attend\, so please bring your drum and help us pray for the return of the salmon.
