Rights & Responsibilities
Changes with regards
to the Social Development Policy and Procedures Manual. The
changes are as follows:
- Earned or Other Income Exemption for a Single
Parent
The exemption only applies to a single parent
recipient, who is under 65 years of age and who:
- Has a dependent child, or
- Has in his or her care a dependent child
in Guardian Financial Assistance, or has in his or her care a foster child,
- And the child has a disability that precludes the sole recipient
from leaving home for the purpose of employment.
- The exemption amount is up to $300 per month.
Earnings Exemptions for Recipients of Social
Assistance for Handicapped Persons or Disabilities Level II.
Earned income for recipients of Social Assistance for Handicapped
Person (SAHP) or Disability Level II (DBL II), who are under
65 years of age, and in receipt of social assistance for three
consecutive months or more, are eligible for the following:

If you are applying for social
assistance for the first time, re-applying, or completing
an annual review, for faster processing of your application,
we are providing a list of documents that you should bring
to your appointment:If there are two adults in the
family unit, both adults are to attend the interview.

( two per adult and one per child)

- Hydro and gas bill - most current

C) BC Family Bonus Statement

- Workers Compensation Board
Documentation
- Wages/Earnings Slips
- Up-to-date bank book or bank
statement
- Doctor's note/medical documentation
if physically unemployable
