MUST HAVE:
• Early Childhood Education Certificate and eligible for License to Practice
• Infant/Toddler Certificate and/or Special Needs Certificate an asset
• Must have reached 19 years of age
• Current First Aid/CPR
• Experience working with 3 to 5 year old children in a group daycare setting
• Ability to work cooperatively and show respect for all other Snc’c’amala?tn staff and programs
Preference may be given to those having knowledge of the Okanagan Indian Band community

  • Economic Development Director
    COMPETITION CLOSES:

    Primary Duties:
    1. Advise Council on economic development opportunities for OKIB.
    2. Develop, maintain and implement the Band’s Economic Development Plan.
    3. Develop, maintain and implement land use guidelines for OKIB reserve lands.
    4. Act as a primary OKIB staff liaison with persons interested in economic development ventures involving OKIB or OKIB reserve lands.
    5. With the Economic Development Committee, develop policies and procedures related to economic development and development proposals.

  • Youth Worker

The Youth Worker is responsible for organizing, developing, implementing and evaluating programs that teach youth the value of healthy lifestyle choices. The Youth Worker is responsible for program delivery, the care and well-being of youth ages 12-25 and to guide youth to negotiat e p ositive choices and to empower youth through cultural identity.

    • Must have knowledge and understanding of Okanagan culture and community life, as a foundation to working with youth.
    • The Youth Worker will provide supportive, empowering, educational and culturally sensitiv e p rograms that promote holistic wellness for youth.
    • To coordinate the following Youth programs; The Ambassador Program, ONA R’Native Voices Program, Toastmasters program, Life skills (goal setting, planning, team work, home management, budgeting, cooking …etc), Lateral Violence, Anger Management, Co-dependency, Enabling, Family Violence, Addictions, Conflict Resolutions, sports activities, including music and drumming etc. Mentoring with elders,
    • To provide a delivery of scheduled programs and outreach to the youth. Development, goal setting, planning, team work etc.
    • To provide detailed required reports and attend staff meetings.
    • The Youth Worker will provide a monthly work plan and a monthly report to the Health and Social Development Director by the 5 th of each month.
    • To build a strong relationships of trust with youth, worker must use knowledge of cultural competencies or cultural safety
    • Must be able to work evenings and weekends as required.

  • OnCall School Bus Driver – Snc’c’amala?tn – Day Care

    This position is available for periods when the regular Bus Driver is sick or away for other reasons. The bus provides transportation for students between home and Snc’c’amala?tn and the Cultural Immersion School.

    Applicants must hold a valid Class 1 or Class 2 BC Driver’s License and have proven related work experience. A First Aid certificate or willingness to obtain one is required. References are required and a current Driving Record Abstract and Criminal Record Check. Current rate of pay is $15.00/hour.

    The ONA is seeking an Aboriginal Family Group Conferencing (AFGC) Coordinator.  Reporting to the Clinical Supervisor will be part of the ONA Wellness Team and will be responsible for all administrative, logistical planning, program development and capacity building related to the AFGC mandate of this program. 

     

    Key Duties and Responsibilities:

    The Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of AFGC, the ongoing development of the program (including administrative tasks such as record keeping, filing of confidential documents, maintaining data collection forms, and keeping communication tools current), logistical planning and organization of program activities, record keeping and report writing.
